Hackaday Europe 2026 is almost here, and we have all the final details to help you prepare for an unforgettable weekend. From a Friday evening aperitivo on Lake Lecco to brand-new workshops and the beloved Lightning Talks, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a first-timer or a veteran, this guide covers the pre-party logistics, workshop changes, talk sign-ups, and a few surprises we’ve planned. Keep reading to make sure you don’t miss a moment.

What is the Friday night pre-party, and how do I join?

The official Hackaday Europe 2026 pre-party takes place on Friday, May 15th, at Soqquadro Restaurant, Piazza Era 7, 23900 Lecco, Italy. This is your chance to kick off the weekend Italian-style right on the beautiful Lago di Lecco waterfront. Your ticket includes two drinks and a generous selection of snacks – think of it as a sophisticated aperitivo before two days of hardware hacking. You can bring a hack to show off or simply relax and mingle. Pre-registration is required; don’t forget to scroll all the way down past the workshop listings on the registration page to find the pre-party option. Slots are limited, so secure yours as soon as possible.

Which workshops are available, and what changed?

Unfortunately, the Let’s Mesh workshop has been canceled. However, thanks to our amazing sponsors, we’ve added two exciting new workshops to replace it. On Saturday, May 16th, you can choose from Tiny Tapeout, When Code Needs a Body, and Fault Injection 101 – all hands-on sessions that dive into hardware design, embedded systems, and security. On Sunday, May 17th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, we’re offering the EchoGlow: Arduino UNO Q Workshop, which uses the brand-new Arduino Q devices. Full descriptions and tickets are available on the registration page. Don’t wait – these workshops fill up fast!

How do Lightning Talks work, and how can I sign up?

On Sunday afternoon, we’ll set aside time for Lightning Talks – short, seven-minute presentations (with or without slides) on any topic that excites you. Whether you want to share a recent hack, a deep technical insight, or a wild idea, this is your platform. The audience is incredibly supportive, so don’t be shy. Sign-up is first‑in, first‑out (FIFO), so head to the registration page and claim your slot early. We can’t wait to hear what you’ve been working on!

What can I bring to share with the community?

Bringing a hack is a great icebreaker! If you have a project, a prototype, or even just a clever PCB, feel free to show it off during casual moments throughout the weekend. We also have a special feature this year: a large SAO collection brought by our team, plus a custom SAO display wall built by Hackaday Superfriend Thomas Flummer. If you have an SAO (Shitty Add‑On) you’d like to contribute, please bring it along – we’ll eventually photograph and write up the entire collection. It’s the perfect way to leave your mark on Hackaday history.

Are tickets still available, and what do they include?

Yes, a limited number of tickets are still available for the main event, workshops, and the pre-party – all through the registration page. Your main event ticket covers entry to all talks, workshops (separate sign‑up required), and meals/snacks throughout Saturday and Sunday. The pre‑party ticket is separate and includes drinks and appetizers. Workshop tickets are also sold individually, so check the schedule to reserve your spot. If you’re unsure, grab your pass now to avoid disappointment – we expect to sell out.

Who are the sponsors making Hackaday Europe possible?

We’re grateful to an incredible lineup of sponsors who help keep this event free and accessible. They include element14, Makera, Espressif, Arduino, iFixit, Edge Impulse, FibreSeek, Tiny Tapeout, and our parent company Supplyframe. Their support enables workshops, talks, and the entire community experience. If you meet any of their representatives at the event, be sure to thank them – and check out their demos and goodies at the sponsor tables.

Any tips for first-time attendees?

Absolutely! Half the fun of Hackaday Europe is the crowd – expect to meet brilliant, friendly makers from all over the world. Don’t hesitate to introduce yourself and ask questions. Bring a small project to show, even if it’s unfinished – people love to see what you’re working on. You don’t need to worry about food or drinks; we provide meals and refreshments throughout the event. Also, bookmark the event schedule and arrive early for workshops to secure your spot. Most importantly, come with an open mind and a willingness to learn – this is one of the most welcoming communities you’ll ever find.
